TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A 20-year-old Palm Bay man riding a bicycle along U.S. 1 in Titusville was struck by a car and killed late Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m., south of the State Road 405 overpass (Columbia Boulevard), troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the bicyclist was not equipped with any front- or rear-facing illumination devices as he traveled north in the inside lane of U.S. 1.

A 21-year-old Satellite Beach man driving a sedan northbound in the same lane told troopers he did not see the bicyclist and struck him with the front left of the sedan as a result, the report states.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP. The Satellite Beach man was hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
