‘Driver hostility’ leads to deadly shooting on Colonial Drive in Orlando

Officers swarm 2800 block of East Colonial Drive

ORLANDO, Fla. – A person was shot and killed Monday morning in a shooting that involved “driver hostility” on Colonial Drive in Orlando, police said.

The fatal shooting happened near the 2800 block of East Colonial Drive. The road was closed in both directions from South Primrose Drive to Maguire Boulevard but was later reopened.

Orlando police said the incident “involved driver hostility between two vehicles, resulting in the death of one driver.”

Jeremy Buice said he witnessed the shooting after dropping off his brother at the Home Suite Home Extended Stay Suites.

“I watched, I watched him get shot and after that I ran over there to the scene of him because it’s right here next to my car and first of all, my first instinct is to help, but then when I realized he was shot in the head,” Buice said.

Buice said he had just returned from a 2-and-a-half-day drive from Michigan as all of this unfolded.

“I mean didn’t even have the chance to eat this morning or nothing or shave or shower yet,” Buice said. “I don’t know how long or how many hours it’s going to take me to even do that because I’m still shook up.”

According to police, everyone involved in the shooting has been identified.

“No further details are available as the investigation is ongoing,” police said.

“You never expect something to happen and something like this,” said Orlando resident, Gabriella Sanchez. “You know so many people being around and you would think you would have a little bit more of a concern for the people around.”
