ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary is set to host its first First Responder 5K Run at ICON Park in Orlando, an event designed to bring the community together in support of Florida’s first responders.
This family-friendly event will honor the dedication of first responders while raising awareness about the vital role played by the FHP Auxiliary in supporting the men and women of the Florida Highway Patrol.
In today’s Trooper Steve on Patrol stream, I’ll be sitting down with an Auxiliary Trooper Paul Davis to discuss the upcoming 5K event, the importance of the FHP Auxiliary’s work, and how this initiative aims to strengthen community ties.
Watch the full video at the top of this story to learn more about what it takes to volunteer with the FHP Auxiliary and how you can get involved in this exciting event.
Whether you’re a first responder, a runner, or a supporter, the First Responder 5K promises to be an inspiring day celebrating the heroes who keep our communities safe.
What is the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary?
The Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary is a volunteer organization composed of trained civilians who work side by side with FHP troopers to enhance safety and security across the state. These volunteers play an essential role in various operations, including:
- Assisting at Crash Scenes: Auxiliary members help with traffic control and ensure public safety during accidents.
- Providing Backup: They provide much-needed support to troopers during emergencies and large-scale events.
- Public Outreach: Auxiliary members engage with the community to promote road safety and awareness campaigns.
The auxiliary helps relieve the workload of troopers, allowing them to focus on critical enforcement tasks, while ensuring Florida’s roadways remain safe for everyone.
