ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man riding a motorcycle through Orange County died Wednesday after being struck by a car that turned into his direct path, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 5:19 p.m. at the State Road 528 entrance ramp from Landstreet Road, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the motorcyclist — identified as a 45-year-old Orlando man — was traveling east on Landstreet Road as a sedan being driven by a 64-year-old Orlando man was traveling west, both heading toward the entrance ramp intersection.

The sedan’s driver made a left turn to travel onto S.R. 528 — entering the motorcyclist’s direct path — when the front of the sedan struck the right side of the motorcycle, which was in the outside lane, according to FHP.

The motorcyclist was taken to ORMC where he was pronounced dead, the report states, adding the sedan’s driver was not injured and remained at the scene. Troopers believe the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet during the crash and that the sedan’s driver was wearing a seat belt.

FHP is still investigating.
