Palm Bay man struck, killed by car on SR-528

Crash happened at Courtenay Parkway

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 22-year-old Palm Bay man was killed early Monday when he was struck by a car on State Road 528, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 12:20 a.m. near Courtenay Parkway.

According to a crash report, a 2019 Honda Accord was heading east on SR-528 in the merge lane for the exit ramp to Courtenay Parkway.

Troopers said the man was walking east in the merge lane and wearing dark clothing. The driver did not see the man in the road and the front of the vehicle struck him, FHP said.

The driver, a 31-year-old Melbourne man, and his passenger, a 16-year-old Merritt Island girl, were both uninjured.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation is ongoing.
