Ah, Michigan Avenue — if you’ve driven through Osceola County, you’ve probably been on it.

If not, just imagine a north-south road wedged between US-192 and Osceola Parkway, buzzing with cars, pedestrians and, let’s be honest, a few daredevil jaywalkers. But fear not, because change is coming, and our very own Stephanie Rodriguez covered all the details this morning.

Let’s talk about why Michigan Avenue is getting a glow-up.

If you’ve ever felt like “Frogger” trying to cross the street here, you’re not alone.

The area sees a ton of pedestrian traffic and until now, crossing it safely has been more of a suggestion than a guarantee. So, Osceola County has decided it’s time for some much needed pedestrian-friendly improvements — though, let’s be real, no amount of infrastructure can fix the people who think crosswalks are optional.

Today’s Trooper Steve on Patrol stream will take you on a “before” tour of Michigan Avenue, giving you a look at the road before the bulldozers roll in. We’ll break down what’s changing, how it’ll (hopefully) make life easier, and maybe even answer the big question: Will these upgrades finally stop people from playing chicken with oncoming traffic?

Whether you love change or are already preparing to complain about construction delays, this is one update you won’t want to miss.
