POINCIANA, Fla. – A fatal crash Thursday morning in Osceola County delayed some buses on the first day of school, officials said.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Edward Gonzalez, 56, of Kissimmee, was crossing Pleasant Hill Road near Cypress Parkway when he was struck and killed by a car and run over by a second vehicle.
Troopers said Gonzalez walked into the direct path of the cars. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers were not injured.
Northbound Pleasant Hill Road was shut down in the area, causing delays for Osceola County School District buses traveling in and out of Poinciana, officials said.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office urged drivers to be cautious as students return to school.
