The FHP said a Honda van driven by a 38-year-old Winter Park man was southbound on S.R. 436 when Mitchell walked into the direct path of the vehicle.

Troopers said the van struck Mitchell, who was not in a crosswalk.

Mitchell was taken to Winter Park Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, troopers said.
