Widespread rain followed by storms in Central Florida

Two fronts move through Sunday bringing heavy rain, then scattered thunderstorms

ORLANDO, Fla. – After a picture-perfect day on Saturday, changes are on the way Sunday morning.

News 6 has declared Sunday an Inconvenient Weather Day for widespread rain beginning in the morning morning and the chance for a few isolated storms, some strong, later in the afternoon.

Behind the round of steady rain to start Sunday, expect a break from the moderate-to-heavy rain after lunch before a cold front arrives this afternoon.

A few breaks in the clouds will allow the sunshine to warm up temperatures into the low-to-mid 70s.

After 4 p.m., isolated storms will fire back up as a disturbance moves through North Florida with a trailing cold front moving through Central Florida.

One or two storms are expected to develop north of I-4 and along the coast and could get strong to severe. Storm threats include: wind gusts between 40-50+mph, heavy rain, lightning, small hail and we can’t rule out an isolated tornado.

Cold front

Tonight, as that cold front exits, it’ll remain breezy and cooler air begins to move in.

Monday, expect scattered showers and breezy conditions. Daytime highs stay below average in the upper 60s.
