Soupy start in Central Florida. Here’s how the week is shaping up

Highs in Orlando could hit upper 80s over weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. – After a mild and foggy start to the workweek in Central Florida, prompting dense fog advisories for much of the region early Monday, we are in store for more active afternoons.

A stalled-out boundary will remain draped over the region this week, keeping moisture and instability around. A sea breeze is expected to develop again Monday afternoon, pushing storm coverage toward western counties late in the day.

The greatest storm hazards include gusty winds up to 45 mph and occasional cloud-to-ground lightning strikes. Storm movement will be slow, so short-lived localized flooding could be possible.

Tuesday and Wednesday will once again turn soggy as another pulse of energy moves through the area, with storm coverage up to 50-70% favoring inland and coastal counties. A few strong storms will be possible with gusty winds, lightning and even small hail, with the highest threat for strong to severe storms on Wednesday.

Temperatures through the majority of the week will remain warmer than usual as highs remain in the low 80s and overnight temperatures in the mid-60s.

Thursday and Friday, rain chances drop off a bit before returning for the weekend ahead of another approaching front. While conditions stay dry, temperatures will climb quickly, with highs by Saturday nearing the upper 80s.

Speaking of the weekend, don’t forget to move your clocks ahead one hour before heading to bed Saturday night as daylight saving time officially begins. Sunrise will shift to 7:40 a.m. and sunset to 7:31 p.m.
