Here’s how things are shaping up in Central Florida over the next several days.

THIS WEEK

A slow start to the east coast sea breeze on Thursday and Friday will allow temperatures to soar into the low 90s along the coastline and the upper 90s for areas west of I-95.

With temperatures this high, several records will have a very good chance for breaking records, including in Orlando, Sanford, Leesburg and Daytona Beach.

Record vs. Highs Thursday

Peak heat indices are forecast to reach 99-101 degrees across much of the area.

Although there are no advisories in place, the heat should be taken seriously. Make sure you have proper hydration and adequate cooling breaks if you plan on being outside today.

THIS WEEKEND

Gusty winds and small hail are possible. Because of those hazards, the Storm Prediction Center has highlighted parts of the area with a Level 1 out of 5 for severe weather overnight into early Saturday.

Coverage sits at 20-30%, with skies quickly clearing though Saturday as highs hover around 90 degrees.

Storm Prediction Center

Mother’s Day looks to be the quiet day for us as conditions remain dry, with highs near normal in the mid- to upper 80s.

Lower humidity values will keep conditions comfortable, with lows dipping into the upper 50s to mid 60s.

Weekend Forecast

Enjoy this sliver of comfortable weather before the summer heat and humidity return and stay for a few months!

NEXT WEEK

The chance for much-needed rain returns, with opportunities for a few strong storms by the start of the week.

The forecast calls for the atmosphere to destabilize by Tuesday and Wednesday, with coverage increasing to 40-50%.

Long-range models continue to differ a bit on timing and intensity of activity next week.
