ORLANDO, Fla. – A shift in the wind pattern on Thursday will help kickstart a gradual cooling trend through the end of the week.
Central Florida forecast
A weak front will linger across southern areas of the region though Friday, allowing for a few scattered showers to develop into the afternoon hours for Osceola and Brevard counties. Rain and storm coverage remains minimal at 20%.
Highs on Thursday afternoon will again reach the mid-90s inland and the low 90s along the coast.

By Friday and into the weekend, high pressure will gain full control over the area, producing a breezier (15-20 mph) northeast wind flow.
The earlier onset of the sea breeze will finally provide a little relief from the heat, with highs in the upper 80s areawide. But with enough dry air in place, rain chances remain unseasonably dry.
Tropical update
The National Hurricane Center is watching several tropical waves across the Atlantic and Caribbean this week. Although tropical waves are common at this point of the season, it is a reminder that the tropics are beginning to wake up as hurricane season officially begins Saturday.
As of Thursday morning, no significant tropical development is expected in the coming week.
