Dry and breezy in Central Florida before return of tropical moisture. Here’s the timing

Storm chances go up mid-week

ORLANDO, Fla. – A large ridge of high pressure over the Carolinas will keep conditions dry and breezy Monday, followed by the return of tropical moisture by late week,

MONDAY:

Locally, an onshore breeze will continue, with breezy conditions developing by morning with gusts up to 20-25 mph. The stronger winds this week, expect rough surf and a moderate risk of rip currents along our beaches.

Lower than normal rain chances (10-20%) are expected Monday, with coverage confined to the coastline as few spotty showers could move onshore and fizzle out.

Temperatures will be seasonal with afternoon highs in the upper 80s to low 90s under partly cloudy skies.

TUESDAY:

Breezy conditions continue through Tuesday, with gusts reaching 30 mph by the afternoon. Traveling along the breeze will be a few more scattered showers, with coverage increasing to 30-50%. The added rain will keep temperatures slightly lower in the upper 80s.

LATE WEEK:

Latest model runs show an overall increase in moisture across Florida by the middle to late part of the week as a surface low forms in north of the Caribbean.

Tropical Models

Locally, we will begin to see increasing rain and storm chances by Wednesday with coverage up to 50-60%.

Depending on its progress, heavy rainfall could be possible by late week if the disturbance reaches Florida. Latest rainfall estimates show about 1-2 inches by Thursday and Friday.
