ORLANDO, Fla. – Temperatures will reach around 90 degrees near the coast and the mid- to upper 90s further inland Friday afternoon in Central Florida.
The heat index soared up to 110 degrees in many cities and will likely remain in the triple digits across the area until late afternoon. A heat advisory is in place for several counties until 6 p.m. Friday.
On Friday, the east coast sea breeze will move inland and later meet the west coast sea breeze. This pattern is likely to focus most of the storms over western counties through the evening.
There’s a slight chance of rain near the coast (10-20%), but it’s more likely further inland along I-4 and to the west (50-60%).
After sunset, most showers and storms should taper off, though cloudy skies will remain. Overnight temperatures will drop to the middle to upper 70s.
This type of weather pattern will continue to be influenced by a strong high-pressure ridge, keeping the dangerous heat around.
Expect typical summer day storms to continue in the forecast over the next several days.
