Atlantic disturbance holds 40% chance for tropical development, hurricane center says

ORLANDO, Fla. – A disturbance in the Atlantic is holding at medium chances into Sunday evening for tropical development over the next week.

The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on the disturbance east of the Lesser Antilles.

As of 7 p.m. Sunday, the wave still has a 40% chance to develop into a more organized tropical feature over the next seven days, when it could become a tropical depression or even a tropical storm.

As it moves west-northwest into the Caribbean, conditions are expected to become more conducive for development.

The NHC has mentioned the possibility of a tropical depression forming either over the Leeward Islands, the Greater Antilles, or the southwestern Atlantic by midweek.
