Heat advisories issued in Central Florida, how weekend is shaping up with tropical wave

Tropical moisture surging into Florida late weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. – Added moisture in the air over the next several days will be increasing rain chances and temperatures for Central Florida.

A typical summertime setup continues for Thursday and Friday as high pressure remains our dominant weather feature. Scattered storms will develop along the coast early in the afternoon followed by more widespread chances for areas further inland into the evening. Coverage through the week remains at 50-60% inland and 30-40% along the coast.

Hot and humid conditions continue with highs maxing out in the low to mid 90s. Combined with the humidity, our “feels like” temperatures are forecast to exceeding 108 degrees for a few hours, triggering heat advisories Thursday afternoon for all of Central Florida.

Forecast uncertainty arrives by this weekend and into early next week for Central Floridians as we continue to monitor latest forecast trends for the tropical wave entering the eastern Bahamas. The National Hurricane Center keeps a 60% chance for further tropical development over the next 5-7 days.

Latest tropical models favor a more westerly track than earlier model runs this week, increasing the likelihood for a Florida impact.

Some models are hinting at tropical moisture surging into Florida late this weekend, but then meandering over Florida or the eastern Gulf of Mexico for several days.
