ORLANDO, Fla. – A tropical wave over parts of Cuba and The Bahamas on Saturday morning is expected to bring more tropical moisture to parts of Florida this weekend.
Overall, the tropics are mostly calm as we enter the last week of August. However, we’ll be monitoring that tropical wave entering the Gulf of Mexico this week.

It doesn’t seem likely to develop significantly, but it could bring some rain to the Gulf Coast later in the week.
There are no tropical concerns for Central Florida at the moment, but with the peak of hurricane season on Sept. 10 approaching, we often see an uptick in tropical activity.

Local forecast:
Central Florida can expect a typical summer day with scattered rain and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m.
Some storms may bring heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning. Afternoon highs will be in the low 90s inland and upper 80s along the coast.
Tonight will be dry, with temperatures dropping to the mid-70s.
The Coke Zero Sugar 400 race is happening this evening in Daytona Beach. If you’re going, be prepared for possible isolated showers and consider bringing a poncho just in case.
Rain chances will be moderate on Sunday, with temperatures reaching the low 90s. The rest of the week will see similar high temperatures, with rain chances high at the start of the week and lower later on.
