‘Feels like’ temps climb with afternoon storms. Here’s your Central Florida forecast

More moisture will creep back into area by late in the weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. – It will be looking and feeling like summer for the last week of August across Central Florida as heat indices will climb between 102-106 degrees while few scattered storms develop through the afternoon.

Early week

When it comes to storm coverage early this week, expect a little less rain around compared to last week.

Expect a 40-50% shot for storms through the afternoon, likely developing along Interstate 95 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and continue their path westward. The majority of Central Florida will be affected, though severe weather is not expected.

While severe weather is unlikely, there is still a chance for lightning and wind gusts up to 40 to 45 mph.

Highs for the day will climb back into the mid-90s, with rain chances peaking from noon to 4 p.m. The seven-day forecast shows temperatures holding steady while rain chances stay around 50 to 60%.

Late week

High pressure continues to dominate the weather across Florida late into the week. Additional moisture will begin to creep back into the area by late in the weekend as winds veer more southerly.

Tropics

As we close in on the peak of hurricane season, besides a few tropical waves in the Atlantic, no new significant development is expected in the next week. Long range models hint at a more active pattern by early September.
