ORLANDO, Fla. – Another day this week means another day with afternoon showers and thunderstorms in Central Florida.
The setup for Tuesday shows tropical moisture continuing to stream in from the south, while the east and west coast sea breezes remain the main driving force of storms through the afternoon.
Residents will also be dealing with the heat, with feels-like temperatures factoring in all the humidity ranging between 100 to 105 degrees.
RAIN CHANCES:
The timing of the rain will be similar to the last few days, developing along the coastline and gradually pushing inland.
By early afternoon, expect storms to gradually shift from the coastline toward the I-4 corridor by 4 to 5 p.m., eventually moving toward the far western communities up and down I-75 by 6 to 8 p.m.
Due to slow-moving tropical downpours, there remains a potential for flooding in the forecast.
Mid-week outlook
Expect a similar pattern through the majority of the week and into the weekend, with scattered showers developing along the coast early in the afternoon as storms push further inland. The main focus of stronger, more widespread afternoon storms will be from I-4 toward I-75 between 5 to 6 p.m.
The seven-day forecast shows a typical summer-like setup for the next few days, with elevated rain chances between 60 to 70% and highs remaining near the low 90s.
Tropical updates
As we approach the peak of hurricane season on Sept. 10, two areas are being monitored. The good news is that there are no significant concerns for Florida at this time.
The first is in the Caribbean with a 40% chance of development as it moves into the Yucatan Peninsula over the next seven days. It’s expected to stay far south of Central Florida.
The second is a wave that rolled off the coast of Africa, which also has a 40% chance of development. We will continue to monitor this closely.
