ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center is monitoring three tropical waves as we near the peak of hurricane season.
None of the waves pose a significant concern for Florida at this time.
The first wave across the central Caribbean Sea has a 30% chance of development in the next seven days.
The next wave is in the central tropical Atlantic and has a 10% chance of development in the next seven days. Environmental conditions are not expected to be favorable for any additional development by the end of the week.
The third tropical wave off the coast of Africa has a 20% chance of development in the next seven days. Some slow development is possible while it moves northwest over the eastern tropical Atlantic.
The peak of hurricane season is Sept. 10.
Hurricane season runs through November.
