ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A 79-year-old woman was killed when a tree fell onto her home in Ormond Beach, one of four fatalities in Volusia County from Hurricane Milton, officials on Thursday said.
No other details were released about the woman’s death.
A 54-year-old woman was also killed in Port Orange in similar fashion.
In the other two cases, the deaths were medical events, according to officials, who said one victim died while boarding up before to the storm, and the other died as the storm was hitting, preventing an immediate emergency medical response.
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office and county offered sincere condolences to the families of the victims.
