ORLANDO, Fla. – Two areas in the tropics are being monitored for development, including one system in the Atlantic that could become a tropical depression.

Invest 94L in the middle of the tropical Atlantic holds a moderate chance for development. However, it is expected to face multiple obstacles over the coming days, with no significant intensification expected.

It has a 40% chance of development in the next seven days.

Another potential system in the Caribbean is being observed with a low chance for development. An area of low pressure could develop by mid-week to the end of the week. Some gradual development is possible but regardless, it is expected to bring heavy rainfall across parts of Central America later this week.

The National Hurricane Center gives it a 20% chance of development in the next seven days.

As of now, there are no significant tropical threats to Florida, but we will continue to watch these areas closely.
