ORLANDO, Fla. – Get ready, Central Florida, a blast of even colder air is on the way!
Following Wednesday’s cold front, drier air has moved in, bringing plenty of sunshine, which will last through the weekend.
But don’t be fooled by the bright skies; temperatures are about to drop.
What’s driving the cold?
The jet stream, a high-altitude wind pattern, is dipping southward, allowing cold Arctic air to move into the region.
This shift will bring some of the coldest weather of the season to Central Florida.
Morning temps
Friday morning will start chilly, with temperatures across the region dipping into the 40s.
Northern and western counties, like Marion and Sumter, may see wake-up temperatures in the lower 40s.
The rest of Central Florida will be in the middle-upper 40s, including coastal cities.
Coldest air yet
The coldest air of the season arrives Friday night into Saturday morning.
Expect widespread lows in the 40s, with some areas, particularly north and west, possibly dipping into the upper 30s.
Coastal cities will see temperatures in the mid- to upper 40s.
Frost possibility
Some inland areas may even see patchy frost if temperatures drop below 40 degrees, so be sure to cover any sensitive plants and prepare for the chilly start to your weekend.
Stay bundled up, and enjoy the sunny skies because it’s going to be a crisp but beautiful weekend in Central Florida.
