ORLANDO, Fla. – Rollercoaster temperatures are underway over the next week as another cold front will bring wetter and warmer weather for the weekend before another dip in temperatures!
Thursday
We will continue to track thick clouds and a bit of virga (rain that evaporates before hitting the ground) for most of Thursday with a 20-30% chance of a few light sprinkles. Some breaks in the clouds will be possible later in the day, with highs remaining about 10 degrees cooler than normal in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Thursday night-Friday
By Thursday night, the air will dry out as skies clear. This will lead to chillier temperatures, with most areas dropping into the 40s (some upper 30s north of Orlando). When it comes to frost concerns, there will be a low chance of patchy frost in rural areas like interior Volusia, Flagler and Lake and Marion counties.
Friday afternoon should be nice, with highs in the mid 60s to near 7 with the sunshine coming back in full force!
Weekend
A weak warm front will move through on Saturday, pushing temperatures up into the mid 70s to low 80s across the area.
The rain forecast for Saturday is a bit uncertain, especially along the I-4 corridor. Some models show rain moving in by the afternoon or evening, while others keep things dry. We’re expecting a limited chance of showers—20% or less south of Orlando and around 40% in northern Volusia County.
Following that, a cold front will arrive by Saturday night into Sunday, increasing the chances for showers and even an isolated thunderstorm through the first half of Sunday. The highest coverage of rain (60-70%) remains Sunday morning and into the early afternoon.
Although the threat for storms remains minimal, we could rack up some beneficial rain with some areas picking up about an inch for areas from Orlando, north.
Next week
Looking ahead into the start of next week, a strong Arctic air mass will try to push into Florida by Monday, snapping temperatures for a day into the 50s before moderating back into the 60s.
Forecasts for next week remain a bit in flux as Central Florida looks to be caught between cold air from the Deep South and warmer air from the tropics.
This tug-of-war between airmasses will make the forecast tricky. Latest model runs continue to show another stronger weather disturbance entering the region Tuesday and Wednesday, increasing chances for heavier rain and colder air by midweek.
At this point, rain chances remain at 30-50% through Wednesday with temperatures holding in the mid to low 70s. But once again, due to the uncertainty, make sure to check back in through the weekend as we get a better handle on the outlook.
