ORLANDO, Fla. – For back-to-back weekends, Central Florida has been pinpointed for the threat of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.

This past Monday we saw an EF2 tornado touch down in Seminole County.

Some Floridians lost power during today’s push of significant weather action.

The Florida Panhandle into the Big Bend was dealt an even worse hand than many of us in the heart of Central Florida. Several reports of damaging winds, some roadway ponding, flash flooding, and small hail have been surfacing through much of early to middle Sunday.

Today has been a mixed bag of special weather statements, tornado watches, lightning, thunder, a few tornado warnings, and a LOT of wind. Not quite the best weather for your spring break, am I right?

But there’s good news!!

After today's bout of significant weather, we're going to rapidly fill in the gap with cooler drier air for a beautiful start to your Monday (Copyright 2025 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)

Once we can kick this severe weather maker out of our neighborhood, we welcome in clearing skies and cooler temperatures especially during the first few days of this new week ahead. In fact, tomorrow’s afternoon high’s likely won’t escape the 60s!

Note the pretty big drop in temperatures during the "warmest" part of the day tomorrow. Nearly a 20 degree difference across the board regardless of if you're in northern or southern central Florida (Copyright 2025 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)

Now this might not be optimal weather to dress down and hit the beaches, but those days are fast approaching.

Rain chances look slim the remainder of the week, and as we rock through Tuesday and especially Wednesday towards the second half of Spring break temperatures will start cranking back towards the 80s once again.

We’ve had an expansive area of low pressure extending across the majority of the U.S. since Friday afternoon. In its wake we’ve had multiple tornado outbreak phases, the first beginning in the midwest, the second the Deep South, and the finale occurring in more isolated bouts up the eastern seaboard.

In total, we’ve had approximately 1300-1400 total reports of damaging weather phenomena in some corner of the country.

However, like all things weather, whenever there are storms, there’s always the aftermath. We can finally kick this weather player out of bounds after this evening and welcome in cooler, drier air to enjoy the new work week with temperatures sticking to the upper 70s, low 80s for many here in the Sunshine State.

We’re pinpointing another weak storm system by late Wednesday and Thursday, but looks to play little role in our weather since the atmosphere won’t quite be completely recovered from the last few days. That is a real thing! Even the atmosphere has to take a few rest days after a hefty workout.

All-in-all, after a VERY busy last few days, it’s safe to say Spring Break is SO BACK.
