POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Florida officials are preparing residents for the worst, as Hurricane Irma’s path is still uncertain on how it will affect the Sunshine State.
As Polk County and city officials announce sandbag locations, shelters and evacuations that information will be updated in this story below.

The county has established a website and a Facebook page for emergency management.
Sandbag locations
Polk County Emergency Management said Thursday that it is expecting a shipment of sandbags to arrive from out-of-state. Sand is also being replenished at the 15 fire station sites around the county.
If residents need assistance filling sandbags, four fire station sites will have workers to help them Thursday between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. or until the sand or bags run out. Sites with helpers are: Caloosa Lake, Cottonwood, Crystal Lake Support Station and Cypress Garden.
Take your own shovel to the other locations. There is a 30-bag limit per person.

Evacuation routes and announcements
Residents and visitors are encouraged to find their evacuation zone and route by county determined by the Florida Division of Emergency management in case of evacuations.
