The owner of The Rialto breached its lease agreements with hundreds of tenants after county officials evacuated the Sand Lake Road apartment building last week over concerns about structure’s stability, according to a lawsuit obtained by News 6.

Residents at The Rialto apartments in Dr. Phillips received a letter from the management company on Wednesday, telling them that engineers investigating the building’s structural issues said they needed more time to finish their work.

On Tuesday, Orange County released the frantic 911 call that led crews to evacuate The Rialto Apartments because of structural issues. The residents report being stuck, unable to open doors, hearing popping and cracking noises, and having to bust a window to get to the patio.

Orange County building inspectors found unpermitted work at a Sand Lake Road apartment where tenants were evacuated last week over safety concerns about the building’s structure, according to a field investigation report obtained by News 6.
