Credit card skimmer found inside gas station pump in Eustis

Customer reported problems with card readers around March 6

EUSTIS, Fla. – Eustis police responded to the Exxon gas station on County Road 452 after a card skimmer was reported on Monday.

The owner of the gas station contacted the gas company on Thursday because fuel pumps were not working at this station.

Upon inspection, the gas company tech found a card skimmer, the owner told police. The receipt paper was changed on Thursday, and no skimmer was discovered, the report said.

The officer observed the device, which was attached to the card reader on the pump, and the device was wrapped with electrical tape.

The owner told police that anti-tampering tape was still in one piece, and the key to the card reader could be duplicated with ease, the report said.

Additionally, the owner noticed pump #2 was accessed, but no scanner device was installed.

The owner told police that a customer reported problems with card readers at three of the pumps at the beginning of March.

Police said there have been no complaints of fraud or identity theft to any victims.
