For the audition process, it was posted that all roles were open to all genders. The actors started rehearsing for the show around two months ago and they typically practice 4 nights a week.
Jennifer Paxton plays Dr. Frank-N-Furter. She said this is a role of a lifetime.
“The competition was extremely fierce and I was certain that I did not get the role based off of what I saw my fellow performers do that night, so when I got the offer to play the lead role of Dr. Frank N. Furter, I was over the moon,” Paxton said.
She said she also has a full-time job and two teenage sons. Thankfully, she has a great support system that allows her to bring her role to life.
“We all just kind of pitch in and help each other out. I try to cook and shop ahead of time to make my days easier, but I really just could not do it at all without the love and support of my husband and kids,” Paxton said.

Kristie Geng plays the role of Janet. She said before COVID, she was performing professionally at the theme parks for 11 years. She now works in sales to pay the bills, so she’s free to do what she actually loves: acting.
“I was very fortunate for a long time to be able to support myself in that work. However, any performer will tell you the work is undervalued and severely unstable, which makes life a little terrifying,” Geng said.
She said it’s hard to pinpoint when specifically she wanted to pursue acting, but she first got into it in middle school, when they did a show every year.
“We did ‘Bye Bye, Birdie.’ I was the only 6th grader with a solo and I was furious they didn’t cast me as Kim,” Geng said.
She said if she could play any other character in ‘The Rocky Horror Show,’ it would be Frank.
“He’s so over the top, so extreme, so dramatic, so insane. I love that entrance. I love a character where I can make the boldest of choices and be as ridiculous as my imagination allows,” Geng said.
“The Rocky Horror Show’” will be putting on performances on select nights, Nov. 10 - 19 at the Mandell Studio Theater inside the Lowndes Shakespeare Center.
Audience participation is part of the show, too, with cascading toilet paper and other props that will be for sale.
