Something strange in your neighborhood? Florida family calls Ghostbusters

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – Central Florida is getting in the Halloween spirit.

News 6 asked the community to share Halloween displays, and those who are in the spooky spirit responded.

After receiving a pin from the Theierl family in Winter Garden showing a massive Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man surrounded by Ghostbusters, we had to check it out for ourselves.

“We love the holidays, especially Halloween,” Jenna Theierl told News 6.

Every year, the family of four picks out a different theme, and this year, the 1984 Ghostbusters hit was the inspiration.

In front of the red-lit home, you’ll find four Ghostbusters, Slimer, and an epic 25-foot Stay-Puft Marshmallow man.

“We start a year in advance – planning, buying,” Theierl explained. “We buy stuff online and from local thrift stores.”

Their love for Halloween is shared by their neighbors right across the street, who also had a decked-out display. This year, they went with a haunted pirates theme.

“Before we even moved in, we met on Facebook and started talking about Halloween,” Theierl explained. “So when we finally moved in, we were excited, and it’s just friendly camaraderie.”

For the Theierl family, it’s the joy of setting it up with their two boys and, of course, watching people’s reactions.
