ORLANDO, Fla. – Four years ago, I braved the Thanksgiving Day crowds and ventured off to Universal Studios with my sister and I found a unique snack – a turkey dinner crepe.
Inside the crepe was turkey, stuffing and cranberries. It was heavy and full of conflicting flavors. I wasn’t a fan, but it seems to be well-liked as it has seen a return to the snack stand’s seasonal menu.

Meanwhile, the seasonal Thanksgiving sandwich has turned into a cult classic – from Wawa fans rejoicing the The Gobbler’s return to a rental car company offering $2,500 to be a “gas station gobbler hoagie hunter.”
Eateries across Orlando have joined the fun and are offering variations on the Thanksgiving sandwich.
So, if you need something to eat before heading out to celebrate Blackout Wednesday or just want to indulge in the holiday treat, here are five spots around town serving the seasonal sandwich.
· Bread Box Handcrafted Sandwiches: (6000 Universal Blvd)
This restaurant is at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk, and it is serving its holiday sandwich until Jan. 1. It is served on cranberry bread and is stuffed with turkey, mashed potatoes. cranberry sauce and sage aioli. Per its menu, it also comes with a side of gravy.
The theme park shared the recipe for the sandwich. Click here to check it out.
· Bad As’s Sandwich: (207 N. Primrose Drive)
The man behind this Orlando institution, Chef John Collazo, created the Gobble Gobble, Mofo! Thanksgiving special. As shown in a social media post, it is a hot and toasty sandwich, featuring house-roasted turkey, house-made stuffing, cranberry aioli, melted gouda and crispy onions.
This special is available via online order only and is not on Uber Eats. The eatery will also be closed on Thanksgiving.
· The Pastrami Project: (825 N. Magnolia Ave.)
George Markward runs this food truck that slings traditional New York-style delicacies such as lox on a bagel, a Reuben taco and a pastrami sandwich. It was also featured on Food Network’s show “Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives,” with host Guy Fieri even naming Markward “the Prince of Pastrami.”
Markward’s Thanksgiving sandwich is served on rye bread and is topped with smoked turkey, house-made dressing and cranberry sauce, according to a social media post.
· Murphey’s Pub: (6582 International Drive)
The British sports bar near Universal is serving The Gobbler, but the sandwich’s ingredients are not listed.
· Yellow Dog Eats: (1235 Hemple Ave)
The restaurant’s chef, Fish Morgan, said its Thanksgiving sandwich is already becoming a cult classic. He also said each year they try to do something different, and this year’s is the best they have done.
Skin-on mashed potatoes, stuffing, smoked turkey, cranberry chutney and gravy are stuffed between two slices of hot-pressed panini bread, Morgan said.
“If you don’t come and get one of these by the end of the month, you’re blowing it,” Morgan said in a social media video.
Not only is this 20-year-old eatery serving a holiday sandwich, but it is also offering a special this month that gives a Thanksgiving spin on nachos and ribs.
