These vanity plates were too obscene for Florida in 2024. Here’s the list

There’s a good reason you won’t find these plates on the Sunshine State’s roads.

State officials have released the official list of license plate configurations last year that were considered to be too racy for approval.

Many of the plate configurations either spell out or allude to sexual profanities, though a new trend popped up in 2024 that some drivers were obviously familiar with: the viral “Hawk Tuah” meme.

According to the New York Times, the meme kicked off over the summer thanks to a person-on-the-street interview in Nashville in which a young woman used the term as an onomatopoeia for spitting during certain sexual acts.

Since then, the term has caught on massively online — including in Florida, where over a dozen rejected plates contained some variation of the phrase, such as “H4WK2AH,” “HWKTU,” or “HAWK 2UH.”

Still, many of the other configurations on last year’s list included phrases like “UGLY AF,” “WTFYM” and “DZZNUTZ,” which the state refused to allow on license plates in Florida.
