🚙Here are the vanity plates deemed too risqué for Florida roads in 2023

Requests deemed ‘obscene or objectionable’ rejected by state

Florida drivers know you will encounter some unusual sights on our roads; for instance, trailers with no wheels or an entire utility closet stuffed into the bed of a pickup truck.

One area where the state tries to intervene before things get weird, however, is vanity plates.

Every year, Floridians request specialty plates intending to personalize their rides.

Some vanity plate requests are questionable, at best. At worst, they are truly vulgar. In those cases, Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles steps in and denies the request.

“Personalized license plate requests received by the department with obscene or objectionable words will be rejected,” the department said in a statement. “If a personalized license plate has been issued and later determined to be obscene or objectionable, the department will recall the license plate. Personalized license plate orders are reviewed for obscene or objectionable material by staff in tax collector or FLHSMV offices when initial applications are processed and also screened through the department’s Inventory Control Unit.”

However, even when a vanity plate request is rejected, denied or a plate is revoked, the state keeps track of them. Now, we have all of those rejected plates for your reading pleasure.

A word of warning, some of these plates are obscene and may not be appropriate for all readers. Discretion is advised.

If you happen to see a vanity plate on the road that you believe may be “obscene or objectionable,” you can contact FLHSMV or your local tax collector’s office to file a complaint.
