DELTONA, Fla. – Two Volusia County Sheriff's deputies injured in the line of duty talked Monday about the frightening moments during the shooting.
At 5 a.m. last Sunday , John Braman, 28, and John Brady, 43, were headed to the home of a man accused of beating up his ex-girlfriend in Deltona.
Deputies said Braman and Brady struggled to restrain Corey Reynolds, 27. Reynolds then pulled out a gun and started shooting, said detectives.
"I felt the impact of the shots right away. I didn't feel any pain or burn until later on when the adrenaline came down," Braman said.

Braman was shot three times; Brady was injured after a bullet grazed his shoulder. Brady immediately called for back-up.
"I said a little prayer and got that radio call out. I didn't think John had made it from the rounds of shots," Brady said.
"I felt the bullet go right by my face. I thought, I wonder what that would have felt like if it hit me in the head. I said, 'Thank you, God,'" added Brady.
The two deputies agreed that the experience will forever change the way they do their jobs.
"I'll be looking for ways to fine tune my approaches so I keep coming home safe," Braman said.
Both deputies plan to return back to work soon.
The last time a Volusia County deputy was shot in the line of duty was in 1994.
Reynolds remains in jail. He is charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder of a law enforcement officer with a firearm.
