LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Guests at a popular Disney resort were forced to evacuate after a small fire caused heavy smoke Monday night.
People at the Animal Kingdom Lodge were evacuated for close to two hours as Reedy Creek Firefighters contained a small fire.
Firefighters said the fire started in a can in a storage room and created heavy smoke. As a precaution, Disney employees evacuated one wing of the resort and the restaurant.
Guests reported hearing the fire alarm go off at dinner. They said they thought it was a drill until they noticed waiters stopping service and asking people to evacuate.
Many people took to social media to post photos of the smoke and inquire about what had happened.
Reedy Creek Firefighters said the fire was contained, everyone was allowed back in and people or animals were injured.
