Local 6 first reported the new park, which will be called Volcano Bay, in February when a permit application was submitted by a geo-technical engineering service for Universal Orlando.

The park will be located just south of Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort and ground has already been broken, according to park officials.

Officials described the park as a "picture-perfect tropical islands, formed by a massive volcano."

Theme park expert Ken Pilcher said the most attractive part of this water park for Universal and its guests, is that it'll be on Universal's property.

"One of the reasons they're building so many resorts is to keep people there. They want people to spend more time and therefore more money," said Pilcher.

Now that Volcano Bay is in the making, does it leave Universal's other popular water park, Wet n' Wild left hanging out to dry?

"It wouldn't surprise me if eventually they replaced Wet n' Wild with something else or expanded it at least," he said.

Local 6 showed the rendering to visitors on their way to Wet n' Wild and asked them if a third waterpark is needed.

"It would have to be very similar to this, I think to keep them happy," said Melissa Grubbs.

"We got passes to this one, passes for the other one, so I don't know if you need another one," said Jackie Shortland.

But Universal is hopeful that this water park will be one of a kind.

"Universal swears that this is going to be the next level of water park. It's going to be really innovative and really thrilling," said Pilcher.
