The Orange County Sheriff's Office dive team is searching the canal behind the Eagle Reserve Apartments, where Renee Collins, 26, and Pieterson Delhomme, 25, were found dead in July.
"Their senseless murders were made even more tragic by the knowledge that it all took place in front of their 2-year-old son, who was unharmed in the incident," the Orlando Police Department posted on its Facebook page.
The toddler is now living with family members.
No other details about the search have been released.
Orlando homicide detectives said the crime scene was one of the most violent they had ever seen and described the killer as depraved.
Police said Delhomme and Collins moved to Orlando from West Palm Beach a short time ago. Delhomme worked as a security guard, and Collins was a service manager at a bank.
Anyone with any information about their deaths is asked to contact Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. Callers may remain anonymous.
