New pedestrian bridge installed near Daytona Speedway

Traffic officials say bridge will improve safety

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A new pedestrian bridge is being installed on a busy Daytona Beach highway.

The bridge is being built over International Speedway Boulevard, about 750 feet west of Bill France Boulevard.  It will include landscaping, lighting and fencing.

When races are held at the nearby speedway, tens of thousands of people have to cross ISB, and the Department of Transportation said the new bridge will improve safety.

The DOT said the bridge will be open for foot traffic before Thanksgiving.  Sidewalk improvements should also be completed at the same time.
