Oviedo High School evacuation lifted after threat

SCPS: School evacuated out of abundance of caution

OVIEDO, Fla. – The evacuation has been lifted Monday morning at Oviedo High School after a "suspicious threat" was reported, according to school officials.

Oviedo High School officials alerted parents to "suspicious threat" at the high school, but no other details on the threat were released.

Officials said they were treating the report as a bomb threat. Students were moved to the auditorium and gymnasium before the evacuation was lifted just before 12:30 p.m.

"All students are safe and the evacuation is being done out an abundance of caution," the text alert sent to parents said.

Oviedo police said the school was resuming normal schedule and activities.

Seminole County Fire Rescue first reported the evacuation was over a gas smell in one of the buildings.
