Orlando Police Department Explorer Program member Joel-Alex Flores' CPR training came in handy when his 11-month-old sister, Jordyn-Grace, started choking.
His dad, Joel, and mother, Jovana Flores frantically tried to help, but the baby turned blue and became unconscious. The parents began to panic when Joel-Alex stepped in and said "Give her to me. I know what to do," according to police.
Joel-Alex used the training he received in the Explorer Program to dislodge the food she was choking on, enabling Jordyn-Grace to regain consciousness and breathe.
"She was lifeless, but he was so calm that it helped make me more calm," Jovana Flores said of her son. "Dad and I were really a mess. He saved her life; dad and I didn't know what to do."

Joel-Alex has been an Explorer for nearly a year and has dreamed of becoming a police officer since the fifth grade.
