The crash happened just before midnight in the eastbound lanes of I-4 at the overpass to the Central Florida Parkway.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Salvatore Anzelone, 45, of Palmetto, was driving a big rig pulling two trailers and made an improper lane change, swiping another car before striking a guardrail.  The impact caused one of the trailers to break apart and fall off the overpass onto Central Florida Parkway.

Hundreds of packages spilled onto the highway and down the embankment onto Central Florida Parkway.

The rig and the first trailer remained on I-4.  Anzelone, who was ticketed for making an improper lane change, suffered minor injuries, the FHP said.  A 55-year-old Orlando woman driving the other vehicle was not injured.

The crash closed two lanes of eastbound I-4 overnight, as well as lanes on Central Florida Parkway while crews cleaned up the scene.

The I-4 lanes reopened hours later.  Central Florida Parkway remains closed in the area.

FedEx released a statement after the crash.

"Our first concern was for the well-being of the driver and anyone else who may have been involved in last night's accident in central Florida, and we are grateful that there were no serious injuries.

"Public safety and care for our customers' packages are FedEx Ground's top priorities. We dispatched teams to quickly clean up the area. Every package and every item is removed from the area and carefully examined to determine what is damaged and what can be delivered as soon as possible. Customers with questions about their shipments can track their packages on fedex.com or call 800-GO-FEDEX. Customers should contact the shipper to begin the claims process if they suspect their shipment has been damaged," FedEx said in a statement.
