PICKENS COUNTY, Georgia – The wrestling team at Georgia's Pickens County High School is raising some eyebrows over a prize being offered in a fundraising raffle.
The team is giving away a 9mm pistol.
"I don't think it's a good idea for a high school to be selling chances for a gun", resident Sharon Mualkey said.
School district officials say the contest is being sponsored by the team's booster club, and the district said it does not have any control over what is being offered as a prize.
Booster club members say they are following all of the federal and state rules when it comes to the gun giveaway.
They say the winner will have to be at least 21 years old and pass a background check before they would be given the gun.
