Final Pulse survivor released from hospital

All 35 victims who were patients at ORMC discharged, Orlando Health says

ORLANDO, Fla. – The last victim who remained hospitalized after being wounded in the Pulse nightclub shooting has been released, Orlando Health said.

Orlando Health tweeted Tuesday that all 35 Pulse victims who were patients at Orlando Regional Medical Center have been discharged.

Since the June 12 shooting, surgeons performed 76 operations on the victims, hospital officials said.

"Our hearts and prayers are with the Pulse nightclub victims and their families as we continue to stand in support of our community," Orlando Health tweeted.

The massacre at the nightclub killed 49 people and injured 53 others.

Little is known about the last victim, other than what his mother told a panel addressing the One Orlando fund last month.

"He's in critical condition," the mother was heard saying in Spanish. "He will not be able to walk again."

"A lot of people say, 'Well, it's time to move on, and they can't," Orlando City Commissioner Patty Sheehan said.

Sheehan said any relief she may have felt that the last patient was being released from the hospital was replaced by the reality that all of the victims and their families have a long road of recovery still ahead.

"These kids are never going to be the same," she said. "They suffered some really substantial injuries. A lot of them still have drains in them -- really, really serious injuries."

The deadline for families and victims to apply for financial help from the One Orlando fund is Monday. Information on how to apply can be found here.
