ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida Hospital for Children received a special visit Thursday from lightsaber carrying characters that will appear in the latest Star Wars movie, “Rogue One.”
In advance of the new film that premieres Friday, staff dressed as Stormtroopers and Jedi stopped by the hospital to bring the force to young patients.
The kids received special BB-8 gift bags as volunteers in costume went room to room to visit patients.
“I think this is the first time he’s smiled since he got here,” Nadia Datoo said of her son, a patient. “It’s absolutely wonderful to see how they’re interacting with all the kids, all the activities that they have. I think it’s really great.”
Disney and Florida Hospital arranged the special event.
“Disney is a longstanding supporter and partner of our organization, and we are honored that they, along with Lucasfilm, selected Florida Hospital for Children for this very special day,” Marla Silliman, the hospital’s senior executive officer said.
The afternoon was filled with activities, including “Jedi training,” according to the news release.
