ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – After seven months at sea, an Orange County father returned home from the Navy and, with the help his son’s kindergarten class, surprised the boy at school Friday.
Adam, 6, wore his favorite red shirt to Camelot Elementary Friday in honor of his daddy, Second Class Petty Naval Officer Ryan Fountaine.
Adam’s kindergarten class received a lesson on patriotism as they played along with the surprise.
Fountaine said he spent the last seven months operating in the western Pacific Ocean and didn’t tell his son he was coming home Friday.
News 6 was there as the father and son were reunited. Adam was on stage performing with a few of his classmates when, to Adam’s surprise, his father walked toward him.
"Daddy. Dada!" the 6-year-old boy shouted.
Fountaine said it was for seven long months that he and his son were not able to do their favorite things together.
"(He’ll) probably want to go play video games, play outside," Fountaine told News 6 before the big surprise.
The pair hugged for a few seconds before Adam told his father what Fountaine already expected he would.
"I have a game, and it's really hard,” Adam said. "I keep having to start all over again.”
"I can probably help you, buddy,” Fountaine told Adam as he continued to hug him.
