Victim taken to hospital

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A 66-year-old man was bitten by a rattlesnake Wednesday while working in Volusia County, officials said.

Firefighters told News 6 that the man was working at a landfill on Tomoka Farms Road in Port Orange when the snake bit him on the left leg.

A man who called 911 told the operator that the victim was bleeding but conscious. The snake slithered off into some thick grass nearby.

The man was taken to a hospital.
