LEGOLAND to feature virtual reality roller coaster that puts kids in driver's seat

'The Great LEGO Race' to come to Florida resort in 2018

ORLANDO, Fla. – An exciting, cutting-edge virtual reality roller coaster is set to make its way to LEGOLAND Florida Resort in 2018.

"The Great LEGO Race" is described as"the wildest LEGO® race ever imagined," as guestswear VR headset to experience the action from every direction, officials with UK Parent Company MerlinEntertainment Group said in a release.

Riders can look forward to walking into "pre-race space" queue that includes pit crews, and willeventually ride alongside popular LEO mini figures, including Trendsetter, Pharaoh, Surfer Girl, Wizard and Pirate Captain.

The senior creative director for Merlin Magic Making, Candy Holland, explains it as "a unique LEGO adventure that lets kids enter an epic imaginary world made entirely from LEGO bricks, featuring a host of different themes and fun LEGO characters, all mixed up together.”

The coasters installation will be part of a process of transforming "three existing 'Project X' roller coasters into an exciting, high-octane experience that puts kids in the driver’s seat."

"The Great LEGO Race" is set to first be installed in LEGOLAND's Malaysian Resort in late 2017, and then make its way to LEGOLAND's Florida Resort and Germany's Deutschland Resort the following year.
