ORLANDO, Fla. – A woman was pulled out of her Lexus SUV during a carjacking in Orange County, deputies said.
The incident was reported at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on Point Cypress Drive near South Apopka Vineland Road and Sand Lake Road.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the woman said she was driving when she was struck from behind by a dark gray Nissan.
The woman said she pulled over, and someone in the Nissan ran up to her and forcibly removed her from her vehicle, according to deputies. She was not injured, deputies said.
"This is the safest area in town. At night we have a sheriff standing here all the time," resident Muhammad Azher said.
The assailant then drove off in the woman's Lexus, authorities said.
Detectives located the stolen SUV near John Young Parkway and Silver Star Road and made two arrests, the Sheriff's Office said.
Ernest Nobles, 18, is charged with felony carjacking. Charges against two more teens, ages 16 and 17, are pending a photo lineup identification, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Jane Watrel said.
Nobles was arrested in Daytona Beach on Nov. 15 and charged with grand theft. Deputies said the car was stolen from Orlando.
Nobles posted $20,000 bond on Nov. 18 before being arrested again Tuesday in Orange County.
Watrel said the suspects may be involved in several other similar carjacking cases in Central Florida.
In November, 14 carjackings have been reported across Central Florida. Detectives are investigating if the suspects could be involved in those cases.
An investigation is ongoing.
