MINNEOLA, Fla. – A Lake Minneola High student entered the school after hours on Wednesday and took medication from the nurse's station in an apparent suicide attempt, authorities said.

The boy was found by law enforcement officers after he called a friend and told him what he was doing, officials said. The friend alerted authorities, who found the boy semi-conscious in the school early Thursday morning.

The boy was taken to a hospital. Lake County School official said he is expected to make a full recovery.

The incident comes one month after another Lake Minneola High School student shot and killed himself at the school.

"This has been a deeply troubling time for Lake Minneola High School, the school district and the community as a whole," Lake County Schools said in a news release. "Together, we are urging young people and their families to reach out for help when they need it."

Officials said students can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK, and parents and students can also call the district’s Student Services Department for assistance, support and resources at 352-742-6920.

Lake County Schools, the city of Minneola and LifeStream Behavioral Center will host R.E.A.C.H. (Resiliency through Education and Community Health), a resource fair designed to coordinate support for students, parents, families and friends.  Attendees will receive information about suicide prevention and how to care for young people after a suicide attempt or the death of a loved one.

The public is invited to the event, which will be held Monday at Lake Minneola High School at 101 N. Hancock Road in Minneola.
