CHRISTMAS, Fla. – One person died after a large fire broke out Monday morning at a modular home in Christmas, officials said.
Two people were able to escape the fire, which was reported on Luke Street, south of Colonial Drive.
Orange County fire officials said three people lived at the home, and a body was found after the fire was extinguished.
Flames were seen on Sky 6 video ripping through the roof of the home, which officials said is a total loss.
Neighbors said they heard "booms" and noticed the fire.
"I just heard a boom, boom, boom," Deana Lippens said. "I thought somebody was shooting a gun at first."
"I went to go open the door, and I heard the boom, and I was like, 'Oh, no.' I opened the door real fast, and it was instant, red flames and just black smoke pouring," Lynsey Zayas said. "I just ran to her house and I was like, 'Get out, let's go, we got to get hoses going just in case it gets too bad.'"
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
No other details, including the victim's name, have been released.
